I Said Yes Without Knowing How: The Project That Led Me to a London

If someone had told me at the beginning of this year that one of my jewellery pieces would appear at a student fashion show in London, I would have laughed. It felt like something from a completely different world. But here we are, and here is the story of how it actually happened.

It all started on an ordinary day, while I was packing orders. Suddenly, a message arrived: a collaboration offer from @nykaisa founder of @ayaisaya. I said yes immediately, even though I had absolutely no idea how I was going to pull it off. Sometimes “yes” comes before the plan, and this was one of those times.

We began with sketches. Dozens of them. I kept drawing and redrawing, exploring shapes inspired by her references, trying to get closer to what we both imagined.

When the final design was finally approved, a new challenge appeared: “Okay… but how do I actually make this?”

The only solution I could think of was 3D printing. The catch? I don’t really know 3D design. Luckily, you don’t need to know everything perfectly if you have friends like Dilyara, who helped me build the base model. Still, there were parts that needed fixing, and that meant learning some 3D modelling myself. In the end, it turned into a little personal “kaizen”, continuous improvement through the process itself.

The printed base arrived in a light blue resin. Time was running out, and the only resin available at that moment was a transparent blue that looked suspiciously like something worn by a Kazakh Elsa or maybe a White Walker from Game of Thrones. Definitely not runway-ready.

So I “knitted” a chainmail of black chains, added all the remaining details, and sent the piece off to my collaboration partner. One problem: it still wasn’t black. She solved that by painting it, and suddenly, everything came together.

Then came the waiting. Would the fashion show committee approve her collection? Would our piece even make it to the runway?

And… they said yes.

That is how one message, a lot of sketches, unexpected lessons in 3D design, last-minute solutions, and a bit of creative chaos brought my work to a student fashion show in London.

Sometimes the most surprising journeys begin with a simple “yes.”

l also asked @nykaisa who is a founder of the @ayaisaya, what inspired her to create this marvellous work?

She said:

'As this year's show theme was Eclipse, ! thought to have included in my creative concept details from Central Asian and Turkic heritage with its symbolism of children of the moon and sun together and also subtly depicting how a lunar eclipse happens with the materials and shape of the design!

I genuinely am super grateful of our collab to bring this concept to life as well!’

So, In my opinion it's beautiful.

Thank you for opportunity to be part of this occasion and look. I'm so grateful! Thank you Nigyar!
